Bei Problemen im Zuge des Roll-Outs wurde schnell, unbürokratisch und lösungsorientiert unterstützt. Gartner estimates Visio revenue in the BPA tool market to be about $180 million (a 40% revenue share of the BPA tool market). Visio 2010 added several new, higher-end process features, like support for BPMN v.1.2, subprocess, SharePoint Workflow, Six Sigma and Diagram Validation against business rules, as well as many ease-of-use features to save time for analysts, BP architects and BPMS modelers. These features make Visio 2010 a far richer BPA tool than prior versions. New SharePoint Workflow integration and Workflow visualization features in Visio 2010 make human and document-centric workflows more widely available to the enterprise. New Visio Services in SharePoint 2010 and Office 365 provide data visualization to monitor business performance, enabling Visio diagrams to be widely viewed across the organization via a browser. Most organizations store knowledge about their BPs and work instructions in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Visio’s ability to use Microsoft Office files makes it very popular with the business user, and enables what Gartner calls BPA for the masses. BP architects, analysts and BPMS modelers can transform Visio diagrams into a graphical front end for line-of-business data that can be rendered in a browser for wide adoption. They can visualize and automatically refresh information stored in multiple data sources and in multiple formats, including being able to view key performance indicators (KPIs) on top of BP diagrams or in the context of the data source, and to view process and production data in the form of value stream maps. Visio includes numerous prebuilt process templates for use by business architects and analysts to jump-start process modeling efforts (such as those for the factory floor process, PC assembly process flow, supply chain workflow and fault tree analysis). Microsoft has a strong partnering strategy with Visio, including BPA and BPMS partners like OpenText, AgilePoint, itp commerce, Bluespring Software, ProModel, Orbus Software, K2 and Semtation. This strategy allows architects, analysts and business users to extend their Visio BPA capabilities as needed, thus reducing upfront capital investment. Cautions Although Visio can be a low-cost, easy-to-use way to get started broadly with BPA, there is still reluctance with some BP architects and analysts to extended its use to major improvement and transformation projects, due to its lack of advanced simulation, what-if analysis and vertical framework support. If and when Visio customers reach the point where they need greater functionality for enterprise and business/BP architects and analysts, they will need to use a Visio partner or consider acquiring a complementary BPA tool with a Visio bridge.
